Students completing the B.Sc. Mar. Biol. programme should be able to:

  1. Interpret the major principles in marine biology and marine biological systems;
  2. Display advanced working knowledge of the main groups of marine living organisms;
  3. Show competency in analysing the complexities of the marine environment;
  4. Display knowledge of allied sciences (chemistry, physics and mathematics);
  5. Explain contemporary topical issues in marine biology;
  6. Demonstrate an intermediate level of understanding of marine resource conservation and management:
  7. Demonstrate safe practices in both field and laboratory situations;
  8. Employ the scientific method and professional ethics;
  9. Use critical thinking skills to solve problems in marine biology;
  10. Communicate science effectively;
  11. Develop as a lifelong learner.
