The University of Guyana (UG) continues their impressive run in the New Building Society (NBS) Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) 40 – overs second division competition by notching up two wins over the weekend.

UG on Saturday, thumped Police by a mammoth 146 runs on the back of a fine century from Omesh Dhanram who slammed 133 after UG were sent in and piled on 350 before being dismissed in the 40th over.

Dhanram was supported by the consistent Keron Sewnarine (59) and Suresh Dhanai (56) as the students piled it on.

A Food and Drug Laboratory Complex is slated to be established at the University of Guyana’s (UG) Turkeyen Campus following a ground-breaking ceremony. 

The new complex will lessen Guyana’s dependence on external laboratories to conduct analysis which has restricted access to some international markets. It will also allow for improved monitoring, regulation and compliance with international standards required to penetrate these markets.

The new Executive Body of the University of Guyana Students’ Society (UGSS) was on Friday installed and Vice Chancellor, Professor Ivelaw Griffith, charged the body to keep their constituents informed of new developments.

“Keep in communication with your constituents that you represent. They would not all be able to be in one place at one time… Keep them informed and enable them with the information to separate fiction from facts,” Griffith urged, during his address to the executive body.

The University of Guyana (UG) on Wednesday held a ceremonial turning of the sod for the proposed Student Society Complex Building at its Turkeyen Campus.

According to a Department of Public Information (DPI) report, the building is currently being constructed by M & P Investments on the southern section of the Turkeyen Campus. It is expected to be completed in February, 2018.

According to the Registrar, Dr. Nigel Gravesande a two-part session is scheduled to be conducted on November 11th; and another at the Tain Campus in Berbice on November18th.
