Over 2,200 graduands from 50 disciplines are expected to walk the virtual graduation stage as Guyana’s premier tertiary educational institution, The University of Guyana, hosts its second series of online graduation events.  

This is the 55th Convocation for the Turkeyen Campus and the 20th for the Berbice Campus.

The graduations will be hosted over two weekends from Friday, February 4, 2022, to Saturday, February 12, 2022.

The University of Guyana, on Wednesday, December 1, 2021, inked a Memorandum  of Understanding (MoU) with ChildLink – a Non-Governmental Organisation, under  a project funded by the European Union (EU). This agreement would see the  University developing two programmes aimed at strengthening the capacity of  humanitarians and social workers with the knowledge, skills and attitudes to  effectively and efficiently manage migrant and other emergencies impacting  communities in Guyana.

Twenty-eight (28) children of staff members of the University of Guyana who sat the  2021 National Grade Six Assessment (NGSA) and will now move on to high school in  Guyana.  

During a simple ceremony following its Long Service Awards hosted at the George  Walcott Lecture Theatre at the University’s Turkeyen, Campus, the children,  accompanied by their parents, were presented with their cheques by members of the  University’s Senior Management Team (SMT).

The University of Guyana on Wednesday, November 24, 2021, was gifted two million, three hundred and twenty-two thousand, six hundred and eighty dollars ($2, 322,680)  from the Republic Bank (Guyana) Limited to support the upgrade of the electricals in  its 35-year-old Education Lecture Theatre. Specifically, the funds will purchase and  pay for the installation of new electrical fixtures for the “ELT” as it is fondly called by  staff, students and alumni.
