Crop Protection certification programme to be introduced at UG Tain Campus

Farmers from across Berbice will now be provided with the opportunity to be trained and certified in crop protection. According to the Director of the University of Guyana Berbice Campus Gomathinayagam Subramanian, a special certification programme has been drafted to engage farmers in Berbice with mostly practical training on crop protection.

Students of the University of Guyana commenced the new year with an enriching session of golf as part of their ongoing project in partnership with the Lusignan Golf Club (LGC); aimed at fusing sport and academics. The first session of 2018 was held on the make-shift Greens near the University’s Sports faculty on Friday afternoon. The interactive session featured a number of students, LGC President Aleem Hussain and former Guyana Cup women’s champ and one of the country’s best golfers Joaan Deo as well as a few members of the club.

The University of Guyana (UG), in its aim to provide more effective and efficient service to students, has opened a new Registry building at its Turkeyen campus.

Yesterday’s opening ceremony saw the cutting of the ribbon to the new building and the unveiling of a plaque, as well as the handing over of 10 laptops to the Admissions Division, from the Education Resource Ambassadors in North America.

The construction of the three-storey building was funded by UG with support from the Ministry of Education, at a total cost of $86,265,000.
