Department Regulations

  1. In addition to the General Regulations set out under the general University and faculty regulations, a candidate for the Degree in International Relations must have passes in at least five (5) different subjects at the CXC General Proficiency Examination (Grades I,II and III after June 1998) or at an equivalent examination (e.g. at least a Grade "C" at the GCE "O" Level).

    1. English Language and mathematics must be included in the five subjects
  2. For purposes of admission into the Degree Programme in International Relations the following Diplomas and Certificates may be considered the equivalent of 1 above:

    1. the Critchlow Labour College Certificate in Industrial Relations and Social Studies (one year programme);
    2. the Government Technical Institute's Ordinary Diploma in Commerce
    3. the Government Technical Institute's Ordinary Certificate in Business Studies
    4. the Institute of Distance and Continuing Education Certificate in Industrial Relations and Management (one year programme)
    5. Trained Teacher's certificate Grade 1, Class 1.
  3. Persons of mature age (a minimum of 26 years in the calendar year of entry) who do not meet the minimum requirements, but who can satisfy the University that they have had a suitable education may be considered for admission,
  4. Candidate who have successfully completed the Diploma in Public Management or its equivalent in another Department/Faculty or from a recognized post secondary institution may be considered for admission into the Degree Programme in International Relations.
  5. Candidates who have successfully completed the Diploma in Public Management or its equivalent in another Department/Faculty or from a recognized post secondary institution may be considered for admission into the Degree Programme in International Relations.
