The School of Medicine opened its doors to the first batch of intrepid students in 1985, which means we have been around for thirty plus years, however still growing, still creating and nurturing our own traditions, still finding our way in an increasingly fast-paced and ever changing world.
We would like to invite you to be a part of the School of Dentistry at the University of Guyana.This is an institution devoted to the training of Guyanese, Caribbean nationals and international students in the exciting field of Dentistry. The institution is intended to prepare highly trained Dental professionals equipped to deliver quality care in the areas of Prosthodontics, Endodontics, Periodontics, Oral Surgery and other areas in conventional dentistry.
The Department Pharmacy offers a BSc. in Pharmacy for persons who are interested in a career that contributes to the health care sector. The BSc. in Pharmacy is a 4 year programme that builds on the Associate Degree. The programme is taught through a combination of classrooms sessions and practical attachments. The attachment provides the opportunity to gain necessary experience and knowledge that you will need as you venture into the profession of pharmaceutical care.
The Department of Public Health was established late 1970’s at that time the Department offered the Certificate in Environmental Health Programme to Guyanese and Foreign students. Over time this Programme was upgraded to the Diploma in Environmental Health and by 1989 it was further upgraded to the Associate Degree in Environmental Health.
I am pleased to welcome you to the Department of Medical Technology and I am grateful for your interest in our programme that leads to a Bachelor of Science Degree.
The Department offers you the opportunity to join an exciting and vibrant profession whose primary objective is to provide accurate laboratory results to the physician for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. Medical Technologists are not restricted to working in a hospital; our graduates are also employed in industry and research facilities.
