About the Distinguished Lecture Series:
This Distinguished Lecture Series is integral to the Renaissance project initiated by The University of Guyana’s Vice-Chancellor and Principal, Prof. Ivelaw Lloyd Griffith.
The launching of the Distinguished Lecture Series with the Inaugural Distinguished Lectures in 2016 and 2017, will spotlight three distinguished academic icons: Prof. C.Y. Thomas; Prof. Noel Menezes and Dr Ulric Trotz. According to the Vice-Chancellor, this is part of the “first steps towards creating endowed professorships” to honour these scholars who have distinguished themselves locally, regionally and globally.
The Distinguished Lecture Series will be an annual event on UG’s calendar, that will continue in 2018. There will be one Distinguished Lecture each trimester where a distinguished scholar will be invited to address an issue which resonates with the intellectual and philosophical tradition of the respective honoree.
Subsequently, the lectures will be made accessible on the UG website as well as the UG Library.
